I'm with ya. I've had a few diesel product from trucks to cars to tractors etc and you can't beat the low fuel usage / torque ratio. I'd love to see all cars / trucks offered with one.

i don't know the exact numbers but, what does the hilux 4x4 see in gas milage compared to even our 4cyls? it has got to be substantially better than the gas burner right?

I've heard low to mid 30s (DC 6 cylinder). Well worth the extra cost of the fuel if you drive much worth what would be a higher sticker.

You can visit the Toyota U.K. (or several of others) web site and play with a build up.

I've been lucky to visit locations where diesels are the majority of products driven. I'm sold.

Okay, a quick review of the UK site indicates from 32 to about 39 mpg depending on configuration.

    http://www.toyota.co.uk/cgi-bin/toy...rue&zone=Zone+NG+Hilux&id=CC2-Hilux-configure

That's the link to build ya one.

If they were available her in the states I would be the first one in line. I had one assigned to me in Iraq and Afghanistan as my FOB Runner and I wanted to take them home with me. My only complaint was the power but if you threw in a small turbo, that would solve that problem. Here is a pic of the one I had in Iraq.

It's great! I love the modern looking cab with what looks like an 83 bed. Utilitarian.
