So, last night sucked!

Went to a concert last night. When I came out, my truck was gone!! I was absolutely beside myself... I called 911 to report it stolen and they promptly transferred me to the auto-theft department. The phone rang and rang and rang until it wouldn't ring anymore. I did this 5 times! Then, I happened to flag down what looked like a police car, but he was "metro transit". That's another word for useless... So, after about 30 minutes of all this, he told me to just go home and keep trying the auto theft department because they were the only people that could help me...

So, I flag down a cab and start heading home. About half-way home, the cabby asked me if I thought it may have been towed... The thought never crossed my mind, but he suggested that I call "the towing company". My first thought to that was WHICH towing company? How the hell would I know who to call? Anyway, somehow within 5 minutes, the cab driver found the towing company that had my truck!

Now, the fun part begins... Of course, the towing company is only gonna take cash and they were wanting $280! So we stopped at an ATM, but apparently I was over my daily limit for withdrawals. 25 minutes and 3 calls to Wells Fargo later (remember, the cab is sitting in the parking lot, spinning the meter), I was able to get enough out of the ATM to cover me.

So, $280 for towing and $75 for a cab to drive me all over this God-forsaken city, I got my truck back. They told me that the parking lot where I parked was "permit only". After getting back into my truck, I drove straight over to that lot and there was, indeed, a sign stating all of this, the towing company's name and the amount they'd charge. While not enormously visible, it was there. I just completely missed it. I took a look at the towing slip and the time on it and they must have had a tow truck sitting there watching people park. Because the time on the slip was less than 5 minutes after I parked it!

It was an honest mistake. Wasn't trying to park somewhere illegally, I just pulled into a parking spot in a parking lot that was almost full.

But, the concert was awesome!

dude that sucks, i would have been pretty pissed..i have the same problem about noticing signs..i got a ticket in san diego last year for turning onto a street that wasnt supposed to between certain hours, who would have known!?

 

I was so incredibly mad so many times throughout this whole ordeal! I had to force myself to calm down...

Kindof amazing though that the couple of times in my life that I've ever needed help from the police, they're nowhere to be found. But, do something wrong and they're all over you!

Not too young, just wrong part of the country... He's a Texas Country artist. He's had some national success after selling his soul to Nashville, but was a few years from being a legend in Texas. Huge in the college circuit.

 

cool. Hey ive been meaning to ask you.....what lights did you use on your new bumper? What lights did u have on the last one? Preferences?

 

I kept a pair of the Hella 500s. They don't put out enough light for me (plus they aren't big enough) so I'm gonna replace them with a pair of 8" IPFs.

 

thanks. Im gonna get that tiny baby n-fab bar. lol. I know its tiny but its cheap and it perfect for my needs. Im just doing some research on lights.

They towed my daughters car shortly after she got her license and I was pissed, we got down to the towing company about 10 minutes before midnight and they stalled releasing the car long enough so they could claim it's after midnight so we have to pay 2 days storage.

I filed a complaint and called my lawyer buddy but was told it's all perfectly legal and they can do whatever they want.

 

glad you got it back man...too nice a truck for it to be lost.

Man that sucks, that towtruck driver must have gotten his rocks off towing your beautiful truck.
How did the tow it? Did the take the driveline out?
