Why should YOU afford both? Does she work? If so, does she have hobbies/passions? Then, and learn this early, compromise and keep at least SOME of your worlds separate. A marriage is a joining but not a joining at the hip!! Keep your truck - she has her interests - you have yours. Respect. Best of luck in a long and happy marriage - you, your spouse and YOUR TRUCK!!!!! ;-)

Without the truck how are you going to get to work to be able to afford the wife?

Do NOT sacrifice your hobbies to make your wife happy! It will make you upset and you wont be happy in the marriage. Marriage is about compromises each person has to give in some. I am married, I have a truck and modify it some, I just put in less money into mods now when I am married.

I tell my wife she can go shopping for herself and spent the same money I spent on the mod I recently bought, that works, makes me happy since I bought what I want and she is happy because she gets to buy what she wants.

Do you want kid too or is it the wife who wants kids? Trust me I know... My wife wants more kids ( we already have one). I had a conversation with her, showed her our finances, debt, etc... And told her that we can't have a kid right now, because we both work full time. She works 40 hours a week, I work 50-70 hours a week. Having a kid right now would not be smart and would put us both under a lot of emotional and financial stress which we don't need at the moment. She understood (smart woman) got on birth control and everything is great! I also told her that once most of our debt is paid off and our little one goes to school which is free unlike rape in the ass childcare we can have another one...

Selling to afford the wedding? Hell no, elope.

Selling because of the extra financial burden she'll be? Hell no, she can work.

Marriage entails some sacrifice, but not selflessness to the point of denial of who you are. I sold my motorcycle to afford my wife's engagement ring, but it was a toy and not an incredibly useful tool like a truck is. Unless you have another vehicle, why sell it just to get married?
