The Kit was the Mini D2S. To be honest I really wasn't impressed with this kit. The alignment bolt I could not use because the hid housing with like 5% off (not level light output) There was no way to fix that besides taking the alignment bolt out... Other then that, no directions for some reason, but i didn't run into any problems. Everything worked first time.

I did do a few test fits to make sure everything fit because i mounted everything.

The lights are a pain in the butt to take out with the bumper on, i tired to take it off but gave up after spending like an hour taking screws out...

I also dont understand why these 55watt hids need their own relays?? The amp is the same as the stock bulbs, with no relays in the way it would have made a very clean(er) install.

For the price of the kit, i guess it was fair, however if they sold a kit with no replays and more of a plug n play setup for more money i would have gone that rout.

All and all i am happy.

orig I ordered the better kit, however I was UN-willing to cut the housing apart that much, so the Mini was a better fit for me...

dude your runnning a 55 watt ballast with mini d2's!

thats not good the mini both of them the d2s and the H1 are both an open design which means that massive amounts of heat will be escaping through the middle of the projector as well as their plastic parts being heated to death.

which one of the trs guy's set you up with this or did you source your parts elsewhere?

edit: are you getting any smoking in the housing or any visible vapor discharge of any kind?

i was referring to the mini H1 they mount in the exact same way and are literally twice the projector. the cost is the same and everything. the only thing that is not so great is you have to run rebased bulbs by trs which imo are fine but your not going to be able to run a phillips d2s oem bulb with out modification.

either way man i would keep a very close eye on things as i know first hand that the minis are not really supposed to be run with 55 watt ballast.

i was going to get the H1 from bjorn but i had wanted to run 55 watt's this time around and both he and andrew at trs confirmed that while you obviously could run that high a wattage with them it will produce problems down the road no doubt about it.

yeah 35 watt is ok thats no problem at all but, 55 watts is a no go brother trust me on this. i was looking into the mini's recently myself and i was told and more importantly shown first hand why it would spell disaster down the road lol.

trs marks there ballast with 3five for the 35 watters and 5five obviously for the 55 watt ballast lol.

if andrew told you it was ok to run 55 watts in the minis he messed up no doubt like i said i just went through this myself a little over a month ago.

i know that you probably used your factory housings for this so i just didn't want you to run into problems if you could just swap out the ballast now before you actually damage anything. those factory housings are very expensive for what they are the older style 2nd gen headlights are well over 400 dollars a set.

btw one more quick question how long have you run the lights? meaning if you where to run the lights for around an hour or so in the drive way and let them heat up i have a good feeling that if they are the 55 watt ballast they will begin to smoke look closely. shit my 55 watt fx-r and my ls 460 set-up smoked a tiny bit. and they are sealed units.

huh, i was told that the hid lights burn at a cooler temp than a halogen bulb. was i misinformed? i run the 35watt in my d2 mini retrofit and i notice when my car frosts overnight my headlights dont defrost as well as they did when i had halogen bulbs.....due to less heat?

due to it being focused by the optic in your projector the bulb it self is hot very hot.

with 55 watts heat is alway's something one should keep an eye on when choosing components and projectors. i hope the op can easily swap this out for the correct wattage if he does in fact have the 5five's.
