You give up the truck for her now, she'll have your nuts in a jar within 6 months.

Oh and don't get married. Learn about yourself for another 10 years and then get into a serious relationship. If only someone had given me the same advice at your age.

I've read this whole thread now and I absolutely love it... #1 TW thread by far!!! Not for stupidness, but for TRUTHFULNESS!!

Dude, keep the truck. You dont have to break up with her, but my advice is dont marry her right now. Wait 4-8 more years for that. I'm 25 and wouldnt even consider marrying my GF for at least another two or three years. You are still growing into the person you will be for the rest of your life at 22. Dont rush something so significant.

Yeah. Seems like you would have more money. She's paying half the rent, paying for HER car/truck, right? What can I say, I guess I am a modern man.

If I got married and had to sell my truck to take care of my wife's basic needs because of an illness or something, then I can see that. But to pay for a wedding or just to make her happy? Nope. She should be a complement to your already great life.

    6 months?

If he's considering this...it kinda sounds like she already does

I agree with everyone else who said to put off getting married etc

Not to be pessimistic, but i'd bet that 75% of my friends who got married at a fairly early age are divorced now and cant afford shit due to the alimony or child support checks they write every month

I vote to keep her around (if you think you wanna marry her) and keep the truck...but put off marriage and kids for a few more years

I was told once, by a very wise man, that no one should get married before the age of 30

Well this thread is devoted to one distinct life lesson...pretty epic I think. Op, take everyones advice, think over it yourself very thouroughly, make sure you plan for the next 10 to 20 years down the road when making a decision like this. But most important thing, just don't look back. Looking back and thinking of what could have beens or thinking of how you could have changed the present drives more people crazy than anything else, pull off the rear view mirrors and go live your life, you only get one!
