Did you see the PDF catalog that is on the Sumitomo site? Wondering if this is the type "F" plug for the back of the switch-

Wouldn't it be nice to go straight to the source instead of dealing with parts people. I am tired of explaining that telling them my VIN number won't help because I am ordering parts for a different vehicle!

This is the 5 pin TS series plug from Sumitomo that matches the terminal size that BensonX discovered:

Does this look like the plug?

Nice, I hadn't looked at the catalog yet. I ordered the connector from the dealer, I will have to compare the 2 to see if they are the same.

I'm wondering if the Sumitomo "Series" name is based on the vehicle they are used in. TS Series = Toyota Series, LS = Lexus Series (even though it's the same company). I don't know, just a hunch. Call me weird, or cheap but I love researching stuff like this, and saving money in the long run.

Plus, it makes you feel more accomplished when you can make something professional on your own and say "I did that...I am a badass" :D

This list is also available on TTORA- if you feel uncomfortable getting it from a Prius Forum- LOL

If you don't draw blood, you're doing it wrong!
So, my local electronics store (not RadioShack) was unable to find/order the terminals, so I ordered them from Ballenger Motorsports. Hopefully I receive them by this weekend so I can do the install. They have a "Small Order Fee" of $3.00 if your order is less than $25, so I ordered 16 terminals and the total came out to $10.47 shipped. I figured it would be good to have extras on-hand for future projects too.
I will take a picture of the back of the Highlander switch when I get home tonight to compare the 2. I am still waiting on the back plug from the dealer.

Not sure if you can buy these retail from Sumitomo. I have been looking for a retail suppliers of their complete product line- Only seem to be able to find places that stock partial lines of automotive connectors. That Ballenger Motorsports looks like they carry a good selection.

Other manufacturers that seem to make connectors for Toyota are:

    Amp/Tyco and Yazaki.

I have been trying to find an outfit like Digi-Key or Mouser that carries the full line of products- no luck so far. It seems like automotive connectors are kind of in a category by themselves.

Same here, I was surprised that my go-to store (Electronics Resource Inc.) was unable to find Sumitomo parts either. They can usually get any random, obscure parts I'm looking for. The only place that had the terminals was Ballenger and of it's subsidiary sites.

OH SCHNAP!!! That is awesome! The Toyota Part# Cross-reference is great. Confirms the terminals are correct. Good find!

I just wanted to say something here.

Not all too often in other forums, but am I amazed by the group of subscribers Tacoma World has acquired.

We took a simple heater pad modified for mirror heater use to integrating timer, to Sienna mirrors and now a resource for the connector & terminals to make it almost 100% factory. All this, at a great price for OEM quality and safety.

Whom ever says Generation X isn't worth their beans, needs no other proof than this thread to prove them wrong.

Keep up the great work people.

Heh heh- I am only Generation-X by about 2 months. Aug 1966 is the official cutoff. I just think immaturely- eg. if Toyota did not want us to find this out, they should have included heated mirrors!

Anyway- still waiting for confirmation that the parts all fit. I will try to order the housing and terminals to see if they fit the stock switch. They also have a 4 position plug housing that may fit the fog light switch.

The plugs are almost 100% identical except that one "nub" in the center (beneath the clip).

Sure looks like it would work!

Are there any part numbers on the housing shell?
