To powdercoat or not to powdercoat??

I am wondering if I should order the bumper powder coated or bare. Can my husband just spray paint it. What do you'll think?

Powdercoating so much more durable than spray paint. The only other option I would consider is a bed liner coating.

Is this an aftermarket plate bumper? And what region do you live?

Powdercoat is likely the best because of what the other guys say, especially if you live in a snowy or gravelly area (chipping). Others who have just painted regretted the choice and wish they had powdercoated.

But also, because it is winter, temps and humidity make it hard if not impossible to do a good paint job right now, and it takes lots of coats to get it right. He would have to wait until it warms up again to even paint it and then put it on. Powdercoat from the mfg. would give him instant bolt-on gratification and additional Christmas joy bonus points...

It is an aftermarket bumper and I live in the pacific northwest.
I am just concerned about the powder coating getting damaged in the shipping process and then having to mess with the mfg on getting it fixed.

 

Worst case scenario , it could be re-powdercoated after delivery .

what bumper did you end up choosing?

i recomend line-xtra thats what i'm doing to my whole truck lol they can match factory paint and it looks awesome! it's more durable than powder coat and bugs and stuff just scrub them off.

if by some chance you ever managed to get a chip however unlikely they repair it for free

 

What do the Guys who own bumper say to do?? I know I would think about what kind of Earth will I be throwing at the front of it first off. Because if it is in rocks, that nice powder$$coat will soon come off. Plus taking Your Time painting it with a rattle can, can produce an alike quality. I Vote save yourself some extra cash, paint it yourself and if you want it to be shiny buy 4 cans of clear coat and Bam! it will be shiny like it was powder coated.

 

If he wheels his truck I vote bare just buy him some spray on bed liner it works great and the touchups look like new.

I say Powdercoat. It's strong as nails and, depending on how he using his truck, is very hard to chip
