Congrats and high five to you for joining cross fit, its not easy! You'll progress super quickly. I started cross fit about 6-8 weeks ago and the progress Ive made has been amazing. Ive always been a runner, with my fastest mile at 5:20 and my longest run at 18 miles but have never really worked on strength training/high intensity until I did crossfit. Not sure if it happens to everyone but many of the people in my gym are addicted, myself included. You just wanna get stronger/faster/RX the workouts and you'll see the progress. Just got back from a workout a bit ago: Row 2.5k meters, and 100 burpee pull ups. Almost died today. LOL

What's with the big leather gloves?

Took the physical fitness test for Casper, Wy PD today...11:12 on the 1.5 mile run. The other parts (sit ups and push ups) only required that you pass. I knocked out 55 sit ups in a minute...but didn't push the push ups that hard...30 in 30 seconds and done. Required was 30 sit ups and 29 push ups, both in one minute.

We'll see how I rank for the oral board after 3 PM today.

Fireturk, what are the requirements for your physical abilities test?

Yeah, it was really intense. You don't realize how tough it really is until you are staring it straight in the eye. I think my problem was that I didn't pace myself. I rolled through the first round, and the wave hit me midway round 2. I really hope I get some good progress from this. I have been working out off and on, but am now working out having blown out my knee in '08 and my shoulder this past July. This was my first real workout since July... Way out of shape.

Dude, there was no way. I almost finished, but couldn't do the burpee pullups. It was my first workout and I wasn't going to do anything stupid. Keep in mind that I am working off of a blown out shoulder as well... It wasn't just nausea that hit me, more of a hypoglycemia sort of thing... I think I ate too close to going. Speaking of which, does anyone have any tips on when to eat in relation to a workout such as crossfit?

As far as diet goes, I most definitely fall under the category of Ectomorph, so I am pretty much eating everything in sight as cleanly as I can. I am kind of doing it bass ackwards by doing Crossfit and trying to gain weight I know... I plan to do strict Crossfit for about 2 months, and then wean myself off of it in lieu of my other trainer's "Heavy" class that he holds. I will then do CF 1-2x a week, and then heavy probably 2 times a week. When I finally start getting into my routine though, I am planning on following The Primal Blueprint for my diet. No idea what the correct way to go about things is, but I have heard good things about it up to this point.

no idea what so ever. got a letter in the mail saying they want me to come in and get a packet and then 2 days later take the test dec 14 and 17. had my leg day today (just gonna just do chest and back next week cause i get the paper work weds and the test on sat and ill be outta town weds-sunday for it)

but today it was just me and my buddy that competes with me, we did squats, leg press, and calf raises. 95 box step ups per leg with 80 lbs of gear on (40 lbs of vest and 40lbs fire hose and duct tape) wind sprinds with the dummy (400 ft total) victim drag with a 180 lb dummy (200ft) then 60 box non stop jumps...wed look at each other name and exercise until one of us broke down and said no
