will take shots of my license plate frames, and ONLY did 2 coats (that's including the primer like first coat) and it still looks like how I dipped it the the first day.

 

the emblems were dipped 3/4 coats. but the license plate frames were 2 coats. I forget how long it's been but they are still holding up fine. Imo, the more coats, the more it's prone to start peeling/chipping/etc.

 

Thanks! I definitely like it, and powdercoating is an option I will certainly consider....I'm hoping the dip will hold up, if not...it was super easy to do and easily done again, just hoping sooner than later...

 

this is how my dipped parts still look after like about a month or so of being dipped. I don't know why the antenna part did the bubbling up, the first time I dipped it, it was fine. Then when I redid it (first time messed up the trimming), it just bubbled some.

 

thinking about plasti-dipping my shotgun. think it would look bad ass?


thinking about doing just the stocks and leaving the barrel and magazine chamber camo

 

nope,the stocks on my gun are messed up from being thrown around so i want to cover up all the scratches

they have plasti dip in a spray can and i sprayed it on my emblems without having to take them off my truck. it was so easy. i just taped of the area around the emblem and sprayed it on the stuff u get on your truck you can just peel right off. http://g35driver.com/forums/v36-diy/350274-diy-how-black-out-rear-emblems-minutes.html that link will show you haw to do it

 

BIG time, I doubt dip is THAT durable. Things like rims, emblems etc. v. stuff you will be moving around a lot, the dip will come off like nothing. Think of Dip kind of like a scab, if you pick at it, it will come off.

true, but it might be coming off faster than you would expect/want it to.

 

So I'v decided to DIP my rear bumber and I have just 1 quick question about it..

The chrome has peeled and rusted in front of the liscense plate right around the "hole". I wire wheeled it and hit it with a rust converter, but still looks like there is some rust hanging on.

**what do I need to do to prep this area to prevent future rusting from within??**

If I just cover up the slightly rusty area with DIP will it continue to rust? or will the DIP serve as a protector?

 

I just had a thought. Has anyone just dipped the center caps on the OR wheels (hell sport wheels would be fine to) while leaving the rest of the wheel un dipped?

did some work yesterday. i was just going to to do the part on the top. but messed it up. so i started here. than 23min and a razer blade and my BA skills later. also did my cup holder.

dipped my DK recently, the a/c panel and the vent panel will be next on the list.

 

Was wondering how plasti-dip holds up to regular daily use on the cup holders/center console assembly.

I'm about to receive an 00-04 center console/cup holder (finally!) and I need to paint it (or plasti dip) it black. Right now it's tan and I have the gray interior.

I've heard you want to keep plasti dip away from high "traffic" areas because it has a tendency to peel

 

I dipped my cup holders and they have yet to peel. Use them regularly - cans, take out, etc. put misc things on there too - blown fuses lighters.
