PreRunner means that it is 2wd rather than 4 wheel drive but still retains the suspension and the ride height of the 4x4. I've gotten into some pretty nasty stuff for a 2wd and the locker helps a good bit, it isn't 4x4 but it's the next best thing. Oh and welcome.

Since you're 2wd and open rear diff mud and rocks will be a bit of a problem. You'll do fine on fire roads and mild trails though.

    Welcome!

    Yup, see my comment above.

The fact that it is a 4cy means it doesn't have a locker.

ha whoops you learn something new everyday.
Edit: Open diff in mud=1 wheel drive in anything more than a few inches so that's no good for mud but light trails and enough mud on the ground to get your truck dirty would be about the end of its abilities. And where are the pic's? You see we at TW.com love pics most threads are useless without them.

yup, your biggest problems will be mud and snow. Its not a 4wd, so do your self a favor and dont try to do any real "mudding". fire roads, average trails, even some hairy rock crawls you will be fine because you have the suspension and clearance of a 4x4. Just take it easy and keep a close eye so you dont get yourself stuck, and as everyone says, always go with a friend, this is doubly true if your a pre runner.

work your butt off some more, and surf other sites like TTORA and pirate4x4 and yotatech...

watch those sites for guys who are upgading their trucks to SAS, and often times, you will find good deals on stock transfer cases, front diffs, etc...

you can always buy all your parts in pieces so it doesn't hit your wallet all at once, then when you have everything you need, slap it all together and install on your rig...
