    This.....
I love college football, as all of us do, but until they get this whole thing fixed in a system that actaully works, no one will be happy. Its got to be the most corrupt, unfair way of determining a championship ever. Im not pissing and moaning because I think my team deserves a shot at it (which they dont, not even close), but as a fan the whole National Championship means nothing to me.
I would love to see the NFL go to a system like this.....lol

I'll feel better about it when it's official, but I'm so glad to hear this, we need a running game. And with a special teams coach then we'll have something.

Do you guys think that Crowell will stick around? I have heard from my neighbor whom is a huge UGA fan say that many are not every happy with him there.

Either way good luck against MSU, beat lil brother. We cant seem to do so. (was actually hoping we would play you guys in a bowl this season)

I didn't hear a discussion of the potential call... He didn't have possession when he crossed the goal line so there are two options:

    1) Fumble. It crossed the goal line and went out of bounds after striking the official. It would have been Georgia's ball on the 20 heading the other direction.

    2) Illegal forward pass. I have no idea how they'd rule this. It's supposed to be a 5 yard penalty and loss of down, but it wasn't an offensive possession (it was a punt return). Maybe they would have placed the ball on the 6ish yard line and said it was 2nd down? That would be strange.

It was La State's first score. Without it, and assuming UGA's defense continued to keep them from first downs for the rest of the half, the halftime score could have been 10-0 instead of 10-7. Who knows what that would have done for the psyche of either team... maybe things would have been different.

Still... La State outscored the Dawgs 35-0 in the second half. Is losing 35-10 rather than 42-10 really all that much better?

Anyway... I wish I knew what they would have called.

Don't know..........I've heard 2 different stories. I've heard he'd be fine with being the number 2 guy and that way takes less punishment and rides it out until he gets a check in the NFL.

Also heard he might transfer to a less physical conference.

All I know is he is not doing what he's told in practice and Richt is not happy with him.

i honestly think this will be the best BCS bowl game besides the NC. Everyone thinks it will be crazy high scoring but i see it like 27-24 or 35-27 something like that. Its gonna be a great game and fun to watch for sure tho...

took me a little longer to figure out than i'd like, but neat idea.

the reigning belt holder is who ever beat the previous belt holder. if you lose the opposing team has the belt until they lose. clemson has it because they beat auburn initially, then lost to gt, who lost to, vt, who clemson beat last saturday

and you are the belt champion if you have the belt after the year is finished i guess. not 100% sure on that part

Now, first off I don't pretend to know, but why would it be called 2nd down after any type of turnover/penalty? Option #2 on your list.

That's what I thought at first, too. They explained it at some point in the game, and this is what they came up with...

"According to former NFL Vice President of Officiating and current FOX NFL Rules Analyst Mike Pereira, it should’ve been ruled a forward pass, not a fumble. Had it been called, it would’ve been been 1st and Goal for LSU from the 5 yard line."

    http://www.sportsgrid.com/ncaa-football/did-ty-mathieu-fail-to-score-on-this-punt-return-td/

I don't understand how it would be ruled a forward pass...but then again I'm not really sure about some of these new rules in football anymore.

With the way the D was playing at that point, we might have been able to hold them to a field goal and be up 10-3 at the half (we should have had 21 at the half...dang WRs couldn't catch a freakin ball), and the game MIGHT have been a little different. I doubt it, but ya never can tell.

Say a QB scrambles on first down and crosses the line of scrimmage before passing the ball. That's an illegal forward pass, the penalty for which is 5 yards and a loss of down, so it would be 2nd and 15 from wherever.

On Honey Badgers penalty,* there was no first down play b/c it was a punt return, so I didn't know what they'd do about the 'loss of down' part of the penalty. I just guessed that they'd give them the ball 5 yards back and make them 'lose' first down. Just my guess.

He voluntarily tossed the ball, and because it went forward instead of laterally or backwards, it was a pass (apparently). It's strange to me that they would/could only enforce half of the penalty for the illegal forward pass, but I guess that guy knows better than me.

ALSO... If a QB crosses the line and passes the ball, the penalty is enforced from the original line of scrimmage, NOT 5 yards from where he lets go of the ball. Putting La State on the 5 would be just 5 yards from the toss. Shouldn't it be 5 yards from the line of scrimmage.... which, in this case, would be where he caught it - or even the line before the punt?

I don't understand some of the rules anymore, either.

The reason y'all weren't up more at the half is entirely your receivers. Two sure touchdowns dropped. It was bad.
