Using your factory speakers as spacers

FYI.. You can use your factory 6x9 speakers as spacers for your new 6 x 9 speakers. If you don't care about your front 6x9 factory speakers.( they are thin and cheap) Remove door panel. remove speaker bolts. Trim the paper speaker from the plastic speaker body. Trim up the plastic speaker body so your new 6x9 speakers will fit inside. bolt up the plastic speaker body back on the door using the factory bolts. re-attach your speaker wires to the new speaker. carefully slide the new speaker into the plastic speaker body. Attach the speaker with long screws. Check to see everything works. Put your door panel back on. You just saved buying spacers !

 

That looks like a quick inexpensive way to do it however if you truly want to get the most out of your new speakers you need the properly made baffle/adapter. If you don't want to go to the expense of buying pre-made baffle/adapters you could get a small sheet of 3/4" MDF at Home Depot for 7 bucks and use a jig saw to cut them out.
