Grew up in a extremely conservative mennonite church setting (in some ways similar to Amish) - I left as a teenager to live a normal life.

Now, whenever I visit, my family is required to practice "shunning" meaning I can't eat at the same table, shake hands, etc.

So, to answer the question..... have been a recipient of the infamous shunning practiced by some conservative groups.

Sorry you have to go through something like that...sounds rough.

It may be because I am not in your situation; but if my family was willing to "shun" me, no matter what the circumstances, I would tell them goodbye and never look back.

It amazing what religion and narrow-mindedness can do...and its almost 2012...:violent:

Played pick up ball with Landon Donovan (pro soccer player, plays for the LA Galaxy in MLS and US Mens National Team) when I was about 12, he was 14 or 15.

Was in a soccer tournament in High School, and played against Maurice Edu (pro soccer player, plays for Rangers in the Scottish Premier League and US Mens National Team.)

Toured with a fairly famous band (Mexican band) for much of my youth, only when I was out of school and mom allowed it. Also met a good amount of other celebrities during that time.
