I think 18:1 at idle is fine.

When I was tuning my MAF Cali, it was at 14.7 with base map.

When tuned, it stayed that way at idle, and would be 12.5 at WOT.

sounds about right. FWIW, my Wifes Honda runs close to 20:1 at idle.

    lots

ditto what he said. 14.7 at idle, and no higher then 12.5 at WOT. In the 13s can burn up cats quick!!!

roxspin72 and jaxchrisfla have much more experiance tuning these new engines than I have, so I would listen to them. I dont think you would burn a cat with a 13.5:1 AF though. They can take ALOT of heat.

That is too lean. A good idling vehicle will be between 14.6-15.1, anything higher then that is not good.

Now in the case of the OP, you may want to make sure that your wideband is calibrated properly. The factory ECU operates in a closed loop mode at idle, and I've never heard of an issue like this (not that its not possible, just unlikely).

While they can take a lot of heat, 13.5:1 at WOT will destroy a cat pretty quickly.

For n/a 1GR motors that are running the front set of cats, they should be tuned to about 12:1 at WOT under full load to prevent burning up the cats. If they have removed/gutted the front cats they can get by with a 12.5 without any issues.

Well, thats good info to know. I have always aimed for under 12 when boosted, but was always told that mid 13's is fine for an NA engine.

+1 on the recal of the wideband. First time I used my LM-2 I was getting some wierd readings. Was running way too rich. Well after recalibrating, it gave a more accurate reading, and tuning was a sinch from there.

Good luck on this one. Also, not sure about Cats and all, but if you are looking for optimum performance, 13.5:1 @ WOT is too lean. Aim for the 12's.

Are you tuning this, or or did you just slap it on. You might want to get in touch w/Gadget and see what he says. But like I said my AFR was straight at idle upon checking wideband with base map. setting the fuel trims in closed loop can be tricky, but WOT is a sinch.

Keep us up to date on your progress.

If you can set all the Cells at 10, or make sure they are set that way from URD, which I believe the are, It's a neutral point. Soom if that still leaves you leaning out, then remove it and check AFR w/o cali.

    Process of elimination.

13.5 will not burn any cats. if u put more fuel in it will cause a cat to work harder to clean the air up. which make 12:1 a\f more likely to burn up a cat faster but will take a long time to do that. for boosted engine 11:9 af is what u want to see and for allmotor 13.5 is where u will get the most power. i own a dyno so dont listen to that other guy. my truck is s/c running @ 11:9 a/f @ wot. my truck made 237hp with 271tq and runs great.
