Anyone in New England Looking for "steelie" rims and/or 16" tires

Just upgrading to the 17" TRD Sport rims - and pulling the stock steel rims and tires from the truck - my truck is a 2010 Tacoma DBL cab 4x4.

So I'll have any/all of hte following for sale - located in Southern ME

(4) Steel Rims 16" 6 lug
Lug Nuts
Center Caps
Dunlop 16" Tires with only 12,000 miles - plenty of tread left for inspection, etc.

Please note: I do not have the TPMS/Tire Pressure Monitors for sale - these will be used in the other rims.

Shipping these may be prohibitive, so figured I would try for New England first and see if anyone had interest?

 

How much and why 4? What happen to spare?

 

Just so that you know the TPMS sensors from the steel wheels will not work on alloy wheels. They have different angles. GL

 

universal TPMS strap kit ?

 

There are ways around that.

 

The TPMS is built into the valve stem on our rims so you can't just strap them on.

If you trade them for the ones for the alloys, other then that

 

Sounds like according to the two tire places I called today they have successfully fit the TPMS sensors in the steel toyota tacoma rims into both aftermarket and toyota alloy wheels by simply changing the orientation of the valve - I have an appointment tomorrow so I'll repost to confirm (hopefully).

I didn't set a price for the rims/tires yet - anyone know what a fair price for the package is? I did have one offer of $275 for the package with wheels, tires, lug nuts from the craiglist ad I posted.

 

You can use a strap kit as mentioned above and strap the TPMS sensor to the wheel and then use a standard valve stem. There's nothing preventing the use of a strap kit. Also, there has been some success swapping TPMS sensors by rotating the sensor 180 degrees in the wheel but I think that was for putting the TPMS sensor from a steel wheel into an alloy wheel. Last option, scrap the TPMS and ignore or remove the light on the dash.

 

Did you replace the spare as well? Im trying to make a set of spares.

 

I had the TPMS from my stock alloy sport wheels installed in my aftermarket steel wheels, they can be installed in almost any wheel by a shop that knows what they are doing.

 

I sold both the set of 4 steel rims, and the spare - thanks for asking though.
