So I've been looking for a new Tacoma lately and I stumbled upon what I believe is a rare Tacoma!

I've always believed the TRD package were strictly v6 models. I stand corrected! I have found one in Lexington, Ky that is a 2.7l TRD with the rear diff locks! Factory installed! I have proof!

    I'm test driving it Saturday!!

Nope. There are very few TRD 2.7's, and they had an open diff.

I'm a having the sales guy send me a photo of the engine just to confirm. He swears its a 4 , since he drives nearly the same truck.

It's a V6 TRD. They never equipped the 4cyl TRDs with a locker.

If you look at the interior pics you can see the diff lock button.

I don't know its weird, the factory sheet even states its a 2.7l with a rear diff lock.

The pics confirm the Rear diff lock, still waiting on the engine photos

Spec sheet states that it has a 3.42 axle ratio.

Would this confirm or deny if its v6 or not??

IIRC, V6 TRDs have 4.10 ratios...

    3.42 seems kinda low? My 2.7L 4x4 has 4.30s...

yeah it's not a factory option at least not on a 2.7.

lol listening to a car salesman about stuff is like calling 4wp's and expecting answers or customer service

    ZING!

sounds like a cool little truck though.

It also says it is a 4 spd auto in the add.. It is odd to have a 5 speed trans gear shift sticking out of the floor in the pics. I think he should have it looked at. That truck is a tranformer

JMHO, but why bother with the 2.7L? My GF's V6 2WD 4Runner gets better mileage than my 2WD 2.7L Tacoma double cab!

My Tacoma has the automatic with a 3.73 open differential.

Also, lots of other 2.7L owners have a strange cold start up noise. I also have the same issue and have been trying to figure it out for a couple of years now. It doesn't seem to affect the motor, just annoying.

I guess it is possible. I once bought a brand new Camaro with the Z28 package and a plain Jane body.
