but I already made the thread

maybe if you already have an old maglight this would be a good option. Sams this time of year sells the mag light combo pack, 3 D cell light and the 2AA light for 20 bucks
    http://www.amazon.com/MAGLITE-GX01016-3-Cell-Flashlight-2-Cell/dp/B00112TNTU

drop the LED conversion in it and you have a great light. I think the LED version you can buy is like 35 bucks but the LED upgrade is brighter and this way you would be basicaly getting a free mini mag.
You also dont have to do all three at once either.
My EDC knife has a glass breaker on the end of the handle anyways :D

also a good gift idea if you know someone that has an old maglight, hook them up with the led drop in and the striker bezel

I'm starting my survivalist pack this weekend. I already bought a few essentials on Amazon. Going to build/buy a lock box in the bed of my truck I can keep supplies in

I have a 3d maglight with the Terralux LED upgrade, and its pretty bright, but after having used nicer flashlights, I am just not a big fan of the lights. It pretty much sits next to the front door to shine at the neighbor dogs that bark when I am trying to sleep. I usually try to strobe it to cause seizures.

I would much rather have a Surefire (or equivalent) rather than a mag light. I have yet to find a situation where I would prefer the Mag.

And I understand the tail cap, but a striker bezel - makes no sense.

they changed the door panels on 09+. there is not a big opening for maps and the 2 cup holders anymore. All mine has is two cup holders so it fits in there with the head pointed up.

Found this today in the earthquake supply area at Orchard Supply Hardware. I rotate food items in and out of my BOB but this stuff has a 5 year shelf life so you can leave it in there for a while. Supposed to be enough food and water for 1 person for 3 days and costs 12 bucks. Also has a space blanket in the box. Thought it would be good for the bottom of the pack.

5 years depending on how its stored. if its in your truck with the temperature changing and especially in the summer will make it not last near that long. Just something to think about. also for only 12 bucks I'd buy another one and test it out and then if its good to go throw the second one in the truck. then go get a few more and keep them in the house for back up :D

LA Police Gear has some great cheap options...They came out with the operator right after I bought mine, kinda annoyed, looks like it is worth the extra $15 too..

Also, something else everyone should look into, spare glasses...I always wear contacts, and always have a spare set, but I bought a cheap set off http://www.zennioptical.com/ for $6.95, can't beat that. Threw them in the bag as backup.

This is a huge reason I got Lasik surgery. One of my biggest fears was being stranded somewhere and not being able to see well enough to take care of myself. I was pretty blind though:eek:

Yeah, not a huge deal for me, my eyes are only -1.25 each..so I can see pretty good without...but they definitely help.

I got the rope and Harbor Frieght, they had a sidewalk sale, it's 75 feet and it was $5, I figured why not, you never know when you need to wrangle zombies..lol

Bag is awesome (posted link above) for $30 you can't beat it, awesome quality.
