Tacoma is stock and staying that way, Pickup is TBA as of now.
this is probably a dumb question, but what is the coldest temperature you have been in? how deep does the snow get? I am a montanan but just wondering what the climate is like further north, dad and I plan to take a trip to Alaska this coming July via Toyota Tacoma!

To be honest, the coldest I remember being in Alaska was -25 below. BUT a few years ago I was in -20 below, -40 with wind chill in Wisconsin...

As far as how deep the snow gets...depends on where you go. This is a HUGE state...Luckily you won't have to deal with those temperatures in July. Most likely just need a good raincoat. :p

it really depends where your at, alaska is a big state, for instance in barrow (top of the world/state) it can be -40-50 degrees and wind chill making feel like -70 plus, at the same time down in anchorage it could be 0-20 degrees, when i worked on the north slope i was in -92 degrees (with wind chill) snow depends on where your at also, valdez can get up to 14' annually, anchorage can get up to 3-8 annually.

Where I grew up in southeast area and the coldest I remember it getting was around -15 but typical would be around 20 or so in the winter. We never got a lot of snow and it only stuck around for a few weeks. Living on an island meant the temperature remained fairly temperate. Lots of overcast days with wind and rain though.

Is there any opportunities for a Mechanical Engineer?

What is housing like... Is it a possible to live outside of a suburban area and still commute to work? For example I recently visited colorado and montana and I noticed that it was either all or nothing. There really wasn't anywhere you could live in rural areas and still be able to work in a developed area. Sorry if that doesn't make sense.

Lol, i am living that dream right now, i sold my house in anchorage in 09', commute into anchorage from big lake (roughly 60 miles away) i live right at a lake west beaver lake. (not lake front but might as well be) in about 2 weeks i am going to cut some holes for some trout fishing. the commute sucks but when i am home i can't even see my neighbors or nothing.
