It's time that I get my kid a huge lot of legos to build stuff...

Legos? lucky kid! Star Wars is the way to go: teach him how to build while teaching him history and American culture in one fowl swoop

 

Maybe try some garage sales/craigslist. Also ebay might have some giant packs of basic blocks, but having the little axles is always good.

Yeah that's honestly the best way IMO. My parents still have a 50 gallon tub of legos in their basement.

Just find one of the buckets of lego's usually they have the books on how to make stuff in them but where's the fun in that?! I remember when my parents got me a 5 gallon bucket full for Christmas one time it was THE best Christmas present to date, I still remember that day when I was 5 years old and I'm now 19. I still have it but it went from a 5 gallon bucket to one of the 20 gallon Rubbermaid containers. Still have it and break it out every now and then. You can not go wrong with lego's.

Man my son was and still is a Lego freak. He has literally thousand and thousands of bricks.

We started with a basic set. Then another....then themes...Star Wars mainly....and then we went to Legoland and bought tons and tons for him.

Best thing is ebay probably...or shop.lego.com or if you have a lego store near....they're awesome.

Don't buy the actual sets unless you really want to. They're just overpriced because of the theme. Buy bulk. Ebay/craigslist/garage sales.

When I sold my legos, I had 40L rubbermaid tub full. Sold it for $60.

 

My boys favorite, the Millenium Falcon, and an x wing fighter are under the tree right now! He won't come out of his room till new years!

 

man i miss playing with legos!! i had all kinds of sets. its crazy because nowa days they have some of the same sets out i had as a kid just "modernized" versions

 

Depends how old your kids are, my two youngest are two and four years old and they play with Duplo Legos, that's the bigger Legos but super fun. It is a good deal buying by the pound but you don't get a lot of the accessories like the kits have like windows, wheels, flowers,doors, people and on and on. What we did was buy them a couple Duplo kits and then couple boxes of just straight Lego pieces kind of like buying by the pound.

You have to get a few 15x15 plates so that they can build small towns and stuff on there, the plates is a MUST! We got a 5 gallon bucket full of Duplo Legos and we all play together, it's fun as hell.
