This saddens me, to know that people who defended our country get treated like trash, literally and metaphorically. Just another reason why i will not be joining the Armed Forces. Do right and they throw you away like dust in the wind...

Hearing these were remains of deceased soldiers made me sick to my stomach.

A ceremony at sea seems more dignified than a dump. Especially knowing the tissues are the remains of a soldier whose given all in service to their country.

OP... This is the type of thing that our current administration trys to sweep under the rug. I do not serve in the military, but I support the people and their families. This should be dealt with decisively and harshly.. Just plain sad.. On my block of 20 plus houses there is one flag flying.. Mine.. You go to Sun City the retirement area, You see countless flags.. Wake up America, we are losing our pride and respect..
To all that serve, Thank you, I pray that God keeps you and your family safe! I will do my best to keep them safe at home!

If the 'current administration sweeps this under the rug', would it be doing a favor to the administration it occurred under?

Bullshit either way, and its easy to see why politicians of all flavors are held in such low regard these days.

body parts are still them, those body parts where out there fighting for us. Even if the families sign a waiver saying they do not want the remains back we still owe it to the men and women to respectfully dispose of them. on your last comment please go pick a fight elsewhere, not in here.

I don't think it's all that hard to transport those remains to sea on the occasion when there are enough to warrant it.

Agreed. The majority of the remains were unidentified and thus had no person that they belonged to. This was the DOD approved method from 2004 till 2008. There were plenty of people who knew about this and that’s why the investigation ensued. No one in the AF is to blame because they were simply following orders issued to them from higher hq.

The contract was written for the civilian contractors on base to dispose of them and the DOD knew exactly where the ashes were going. If anyone is to blame, it’s the DOD and not the AF.

By no means does this make it right, but there were alternatives that could could have been used and burial at sea is what should have been in place before all this started.

You'd be surprised what a nightmare it is to dump bodies into the sea. It takes months if not years to arrange that. Unless it is OBL.
