Sorry to thread jack but while on the subject of winches....

With Amazon Prime i can get a superwinch LP8500 for 357 shipped, steel cable of course, but has anyone had any experience or know anyone with any experience with the Superwinch brand?

If its a pretty good one i will upgrade to synthetic line but just wondering if you guys had any opinions...and lurry said his xrc8 was having the same problem free spooling...sounds like a common problem with them to me..

Yeah the free spooling seems to be a common problem with the XRC8s. It's recommended that you repack the grease immediately. I opted out since I was trying to get everything done in time for the Toyota Jamboree. I was regretting it later because every time I needed it free spooled it took like two people to get it out, just ask pyroskier.:D

Sorry man, I know nothing about superwinches.

Yeah, spoke with smittybilt about it. They said it was probably just jamed and was an easy fix. The problem is, on an elite bumper it means pulling the bumper completely off to get to it.

Smittybilt said they would cover replacement parts so we will see what exactly in involved.

I notice that for the X20 models they have completely redesigned the lever mechanism along with the solenoid box which has also had some reported issues on the XRCs.

I never made an update about the winch after my issues with it. After talking with Smittybilt about the forward/reverse issues with the controller, I opened up the solenoid and the wire for 'reverse' was just hanging in there. Plugged it in and it worked fine. Haven't had time to figure out what's going on with the jammed toggle lever thingy.
In all honesty the Smittybilt is probably good for the money and ok for most applications. I just can't stand having something I can't rely on. Hell that's why I bought a Tacoma in the first place.:D

Oh, right on man!! I bet you're dying to get those on!! Gonna look great!

Can't tell in the pic if those are six luggers, but going to use those same rims assuming they fit?

Be sure to post plenty of pics!

Yes they are Wheelers Type B rims. Means i could get new brake calibers too lol But i need to use them as my stock rims are only 7'' wide and i need a minimum of 8'' wide rim for 12.5'' wide tires.

But yes..i am DYING to see these on my truck! I will take TONS of photos lol

could also be a filiment issue as i have 1.5'' spacers and the rims are 4'' of BS..so id have 2.5'' of BS lol so i might have to get smaller spacers haha but we shall see

That's exactly what my backspace is, lol. The Pro Comp rims are 4" with the 1.5" Spidertrax spacers. I'd leave 'em on, nice stance!

Oh really?? Sweet that gives me hope! :D did ya have to do a lot of trimming??

Then again..you do have like 11.5'' wide tires and mine are 12.5..

Had to do the pinchweld and lot's of trimming, yes. Depends on the way you look at it, but worth it imo.

Nice tires! Are you getting them on today? And those are going to give you a nice wide stance too.
