So the Taco is coming along nicely. Added Focal 165 KR speakers up front and an Alpine PDX-5 amplifier. WOW...what a great sound...I thought.

I asked the installer if there was a way to hook up a sub woofer so that I could hear the difference. So he hooked it up and I was SOLD. I'm going to take it in on Saturday and get an 8 inch Alpine Sub woofer added to complete the system.

The clarity and bass richness added by the addition of a sub woofer was absolutely fantastic! I could not believe how crisp and balanced the sound was with the sub. I am almost one totally happy camper with the audio setup that I have put together. After Saturday morning's addition, I will be taking the truck for a cruise just to enjoy the music!

Thanks to all for the help and advice that I got during this whole process.

What did those JM Labs/Focals set you back, components I assume. I'm not that up on there mobile stuff, but couldn't be happier with my home set-up.

I believe the Focal speakers were around $540 for the pair.

I have a similar setup: Focal 165 VB (component) in the front doors and 165 CA1 (coaxial) in the rear hooked to an Alpine PDX-5. I am waiting on my box from Mr. Marv for my Polk MM1040 10" sub. It already sounds great, I can't wait to add the sub! I paid $450 for both sets of Focal speakers on Black Friday.

That setup would blow out crusty old earwax buildup that I have had in my ears for years.

I don't listen to rap....so I'm okay with the way that the 8" sub rattles my nuts.
Going up to a 12" or 15" would be a nutcracker....(keeping in the spirit of Christmas). :D

I've been a FOCAL dealer for the last 5 years, and in 22 years in the business, I've never heard anything as perfect as the Focal speakers... The only thing you could get better would be a set of their Utopias!!! Big $$$$$$$$$$$$$!!!!! Have fun with the new system!!

    Thanks...the speakers sound fantastic.

I now have a question that I need to start a new post on regarding an electrical wire burn smell in the air of my truck after adding the sub woofer. Not scared...but concerned.

I listened to a pair when I bought my home stuff, (chorus 700). Seems they (Utopias) were 30 some odd thousand dollars. Sweet...

You wouldn't happen to have the ability to buy individual drivers would you? And if so do you have access to their home audio drivers?

If I'm not mistaken, JM Labs/Focal makes drivers for several manufacturers, world wide.
