The PreRunner sits higher than a base model Tacoma, but an SR5 is just a fancier more creature-comfort model.

PreRunner, has all the parts of a 4x4 WITHOUT the functional parts. It's designed to look and sit like a 4x4 (ie: higher, tougher looking)

    SR5: Power everything, cabin upgrades,

SR5 is a manufacturers RPO. it can be used for different total packges of equiptment for different model years.

sometimes, like the SR5...the alpha/numeric RPO becomes a hit with consumers, and the manufacturer will use it as a marketing tool for years.

    example:
no one knew Z/28 was going to be more than just another RPO back in the 1960's. Same with Z71 trucks. I had a Chevy truck back in the early 1990's that had the Z71 RPO package...but no sticker. it used to be an upgrade for 4x4 GM trucks only...now, you can get a Z71 in 2wd or even a Z71 Tahoe. And I believe the sticker is a big part of the "equiptment" list.

Did someone put stickers where stickers are not due?

Every time I see SR5, I start thinking Normandy, even though the number is way off.

Ok, so on the sticker, the $1,750.00 SR5 package gets you:

Chrome Bumper and Grill Surround. (Should have been left BLACK!)
    Air Conditioning
    AM/FM/CASS/CD w/ 6 Speakers
    Tilt wheel
    Intermittant wiper
Fabric Sunvisors. Pass. side sunvisor gets a MIRROR! Woohoo!
    Tachometer
    Digital odometer
    CLOCK
    SR5 Badging

Wish they would have at least thrown in cruise control to the package. Oh well...

I just bought a newer Tacoma badge set for my 99 single cab which I was going to use for just the Tacoma badges. But after reading this, screw it. I'm throwing the SR5 badge on there too. I've got most to all of these features.

I have a 99 extended cab SR5 4x4 and I dont have any of the upgrades. manual everything, no cruise, no tilt, no Tach, no CD. I think they just threw it on there for the hell of it.

I own an sR5 model tacoma. I believe it now related to trim level more than anything since my truck is a six speed auto.
