    Not to disparage unnecessarily but...

Info on turning your driveshaft around? It's 8 bolts off and then back on. Actually driving the truck is more complicated than making this change.

Do people lose critical thinking abilities as soon they grasp a wrench?

I agree with you to a certain extent, but theres alot of people out there who didnt understand this swap for some reason or another and were requesting pics from me to visualize the swap.
Obviously to a person who regularly works on there own vehicle and is some what mechanically inclined this is a bit of a joke
But to the less mechanically inclined person there looking for any info on the process to make sure there not going to make any mistakes and ruin there truck or put them selves in harms way with there driveshaft flying off on the highway. Thats how I'm reasoning it to myself:p

For anyone considering swapping a two-piece drive shaft for a one long shaft, DON"T. ASME standards recommend a carrier bearing every 6 feet for a reason, vibration control.

it does and i have heard of people getting custom 1 piece drive shafts made for the extra cabs for more extreme wheeling situations.

Tom Woods can make you a custom driveshaft.

    That's what I thought

I have swapped out my two-piece for a one-piece shaft on my DCSB. It has fewer vibes than the stock two-piece shaft.

When you lift these trucks, the carrier bearing is often a source of vibration. Replacing with either a one-piece or double-cardan shaft is about the only surefire fix for this.

The slip yoke providing extra clearance at the rear diff is a nice added bonus, not that it's stopped me from damaging it completely. But it's less severe than if it were full diameter tube down there.

One piece shafts have their place on the larger trucks.

Flipped my driveshaft today. Also added a grease zerk for the slip yoke.

    Noise is gone for now.

how and where did you install the grease zerk on your yoke? Will it cause a balance issue? Can you post a close-up pic?

I see this thread is old, but have people still been doing this. I have always had a noise, mostly on the highway, when i decelerate. It honestly always sounded like a weird wind noise that developed when I let off. Thought maybe the front end was diving a little when I let off and maybe it was changing the way the air went across my vent visors or tailgate or something. Today I actually paid attention and found that it was a noise coming from under the truck and that with the rear slider open it sounded like a bearing/driveline noise. I climbed under the truck and found the slip yoke in the drive shaft had a little play and there was also a little slop where the driveshaft went into the transfer case. Nothing crazy. Overall though there is a lot of play when you grab just the drive shaft and spin it back and fourth. I thought maybe if I filled the slip yoke with grease it would act as a dampener and maybe take some of the noise out. Any opinions? Sorry for being long winded, just wanted to be descriptive.

    Stock as shit!
Sounds like your u-joints may be bad. Mine was doing this exact same thing. I changed them this morning and it fixed it. You can rent the press from advanced auto parts and 2 Moog u-joints are 40 bucks and some change. Good luck. It's a pretty easy job to do. Sorry to revive the thread so late. I was reading through this and decided to offer some advice.
