Hey Guys, Got a 2011 Tacoma and bought the Bilsteins 5100's for the front. Question..What keeps the coil spring compressed in order to install it and the new shock? Do you install it with the compressor still attached? Seems like. Can't figure out how it would stay compressed before installation

You remove the shock, unbolt with a spring compressor attached. Decompress the spring, put it on the 5100, compress it, reattach the top plate, decompress, then install.

    Welcome!
Yes, the compressor stays on till you get everything bolted down/attached.
Best bet is to take the springs off still attached to your stock shocks and take them to a shop to have them swap the springs out. I think I paid 20 bucks and it only took the guy a few minutes.

So you do unistall and reinstall the "unit" as one with the compressor attached?

Truck looks fantastic! My Tacoma is a work truck. Just got it back from the dealer. Complained that it couldn't handle a load and they installed heavey duty leaf springs at no charge! Now to tackle the task of leveling the truck. The new leafs raisd it another 1" and much stiffer, just like a truck should be.
    thanks and Aloha!
