Not unless you have the factory alarm or an aftermarket one. Thus the little black box you can buy and wire in AFAIK.

    It's the wife's T4R so it's stock
I believe the problem was fixed on 08 Tacos -- not exactly sure... but your 06 can bend with a centralized heavy load on the tailgate.

They must have fixed the bending problem in 08. I have an 08 and had 3 BIG people sitting on my tailgate, probably a combined weight of at least 700lbs. My tailgate was fine. It was my rear suspension that looked like it was suffering!

I think they started phasing in a redesigned tailgate in '08.

just bought 1/8" wooden dowel rod, cut to length, and wrapped some duct tape around it for a handle so you can get it in/out of the channel

007Tacoma, sorry I missed the question.

It isn't plug-n-play (As if anything really is!) as the original post laid out, but it's easy enough.
I was not able to get them to hold to my satisfaction by just cutting them out of the socket. I actually did each one a wee bit different. The first, I bent the flat portion left 180° over it's self to mimic the original 921/192 bulb. The second one broke the flat metal from the round wire portion and I had to bend the round wire around. I hope that makes sense. If you didn't mind deforming the original socket, you could narrow the holding contacts to match the flat blade portion. Don't worry about touching the bulb. You're going to properly clean them off with isopropyl alcohol anyway, right!

And FWIW...I saw the same bulb in the light bulb section at Home Depot without the plastic base. This would avoid cutting. They were $3.99; available in 50w and 75w.

Shot in the dark here and this is open to anyone or whoever knows. A few months back I did the DTRL mod from this thread and the parking lights/turn signals mod as well. I recently ordered a real DTRL kit a few days ago but haven't gotten it yet. Does anyone know if the real DTRL kit will affect my current setup? Does anyone have this setup? I don't want to put it back to stock because I like having the front turn signals on with the rest of the lights. I'm going to try it anyways but was just wondering if anyone knew.

The real DRL kit cancels out the DRL mod. Which is why it doesn't work on factory DRL setup trucks. Not sure why, just know the two don't work together.

Gosh dang it! I was hoping it would! Hey pierced, how do you know for sure? Have you done it yourself or know someone that has tried it? Oh and I finally did the map lights/dome lights mod few weeks ago! I PM'd you also.

hmmm.... maybe I need to check my PM's.....

I know because a few people with the factory DRL tried it, and a few people that had done it got the factory DRL parts and lost it. They were over on TN so you might be able to research it there.

Hmmm? Yeah that's just my luck. I will probably end up losing them. Dang now I need to decide weither I want to stay with the DTRL mod or the real DTRL when I get them!?!?! I wonder if there's any way around it to where they both can work? Oh and for the maplights/dome lights mod, I found a much much easier way to do it without a diode or soldering!;)

Yeah, I'm not sure what happens unless the DTRL kit opens up the circuit to the 2nd filament somehow... Since all the mod does is run constant power to that filament when the side markers are on. Although, I know the factory DTRL doesn't use that filament.

You'll have to clue me in to the easier way for map/dome light mod! :D Still too damn cold here! It's warm while I'm at work some days, but by the time I get out it drops and starts snowing again. Got another couple inches this week. *sigh*

I wired the mod this weekend. I don't know if it looks bad ass, but I do know that it will work as it should in snowy, foggy conditions like it should have in the first place. good and easy.
