New owner of a Glock.

    Well like the title says I went and got a Gen. 4 Glock 19. I haven't actually got it yet because they were so backed up with background checks so hopefully I'll pick it up tomorrow. I guess since it's Christmas time. I just posted this to see if any of you fellow TW members own this model and what you think of it! I notice they changed the recoil springs and such on these new generations. Does that hold up well? Is it just as reliable as all the other Glock models?

    I don't own a G19 but a G22 and I love it but I have shot just about every Glock out there including the G18 fully auto. I'm sure you'll love it because you got one, people either love them or hate them. You shouldn't have any problems with it if you keep it clean or even if you don't, but I advise against that.
    Edit: I just wanted to throw out that the Glock that I own has only jammed on me less than 10 times and it was due to crappy ammo.

    I think I read something about these springs or something screwing up or the rounds ejecting and hitting the shooter in the face. Those threads were in 2010 though so I imagine they fixed it. Nonetheless I am so anxious to shoot this thing.

    Some of the springs were on recall on the 4th gen glocks...but i'd be that this one is already taken care of

    That's happened to me before I didn't think that it had anything to do with the recalls just another reason to wear your eyes and ears.

    Here is mine, I really like it. Bought it in August, has about 4k rounds through it so far. I am having a little trouble with the ejecting into the face problem though. Have come home with a couple of smiley faces above my eyebrows that made my wife laugh. Eventually I'll get off my butt and contact Glock for a fix on it, maybe this week... All in all, I really dig it. Really good concealed carry gun.

    The only thing I dislike is that you're required to pull the trigger to disassemble. Yes it 'shouldn't matter' but be careful.

    Well I debated between getting the Gen. 4 Glock 19 or the Gen. 3 Glock 23. I was actually torn between the two and after reading about both (should have done that before lol) I am kinda liking the 23 more. If I haven't actually payed for the gun would I be able to get the 23 instead of the 19 after the background check goes through?

    I shot full size Glock .40 and .45 HATED and HATED it. With both guns I didnt even finish the magazine. Snap recoil and spent shell casing in the face and head.

    This is all thanks to polymer slide... Get something with STEEL slide! I have TAURUS .40 Which I picked up for $300 used, way better handling gun than ANY Glock I have ever shot!

    BTW congrats on your new gun :eek:

    I think i've taken brass to the face maybe once

    I've had my G22 for 5 years come June, and I put at LEAST 100 rounds down the pipe every month...

    The only issues I ever have are self-inflicted for training purposes

    I dont have FTE, brass to the face or anything of the sort
