How Long Do I Have?

ok so i just put on a toytec 3" front strut spacer with procomp shocks on my 99 v6 and i used the stock coils.

how long do i have until my coils (begin) to compress?

oh fyi the truck came out of cali so the coils have no rust what so ever and are in great shape.

ok sounds good.... im thinking about next summer getting some ome coil either (880 or 881)

 

some offroading(flexing) but not like rock crawling. abot 40 miles a day on highway. but next year it may get about 5 miles a day.

 

any ideas?

 

They are already compressing. But it will probably be years before noticing a big difference....assuming nothing breaks.

 

well ya i mean im already starting to rub a little on the inside fender when turned at about 35 degress because im running 285/75's on a 3" lift. and i just dont want it to get worse. see what i mean?

 

If you grind down the pinch weld it will stop most of the rubbing. But the 285s will still rub on the frame at full lock

ive got 3.75" backspacing so i dont rub my frame...

 

You should be fine for a while, but having a 99, your coils are probably already pretty worn, so the spacers will make the coils take a shit a lot quicker.

 

ya im considering ebaich on procomp shocks this coming summer... thoughts? fyi i would go with procomp cuz thats what i just put on about 2 months ago with the spacer lift

 

Should work. Just get rid of the pro-crap shocks when you can. Run Bilstein 5100's.

then i would be basically throwing away money cuz thats all new shocks and coils.... but in the rear ive got procomp 9000's with toytec 1.5" spacer. i plan to leave that for a while...... but one day get some 1.5" leafs

 

its not throwing away money. I meant to keep the pro comp shocks till they wear out and replace them with bilsteins.

And if by spacer you mean a block in the rear, then a 1.5'' leaf pack, or even an AAL would be a huge improvement.

Icon makes a progressive 1.5'' AAL that is a lot cheaper than a whole new leaf pack if you are on a budget when it comes time to improve your suspension.

 

oh hahaha my bad i thought u meant throw the procomp away but ya its a 1.5" block in the rear. but when i was deciding on my rear lift i went with a black because i was told that add a leafs are pretty difficult to install. and if they arent the right length then u need to take it to a shop so they can screw around with it so it will work just what i was told by toytec.... haha ya im on a limited amount of money for my truck because i go off to college next year and only got a 50% scholarship

AAL's are pretty easy to do yourself. Almost same process as adding a block, because all the same stuff needs to be removed to do it.

And I dont know why toytec would tell you that, because as long as the AAL is made for your truck (like the ones they sell). You will have no problems installing it yourself.

 

sometimes toytec really pisses me off!!! now i waised 80 bucks with those blocks..... well atleast i can reuse my longer u bolts
