are kick outs on sliders necessary?

im thinking about getting sliders and i cant figure out if i want kick outs with them or not.

i dont do any rock crawling. its mostly light/medium trails in the forest and desert. im not planning on getting stuck on roots or boulders or anything.

if you guys could give any input that would be great. and what are kick outs REALLY used for?

 

Once you are in the mindset of not planning on getting stuck, then you will get stuck. I wish I had kickouts on mine. My lower rocker panel by the doors are banged up because I don't have the kickouts.

 

They're used so if you're sliding down a rock, tree stump, etc., the kick out will push the truck away from the obstacle so you can safely pass by it without any damage to the body work.

 

wouldnt a wider slider do the same? i know they wont "kick" you off the obstacle tho.

 

If you don't get stuck you're not wheeling it hard enough! lol They keep crap like rocks and stuff off of the body work on your bed and away from your tires. I'd say get them while you're ordering some as, imo, they don't really take away from the looks of the truck and offer more protection.

Prolly would, but you would have to step over/on it all the time.
I would rather have the kick-out to the rear.
Let the back-seaters deal with it

I'm still debating if I'm going to do a straight or kick.
I do rocks but not too gnarly.

Wow! Now that's a crazy section of trail!! Why is that cut into the earth like that? Just for wheelin? Most sliders these days come standard with a rear kickout anyway. I offer them standard and offer the kickup as a option.

 

They shift you around an obstacle. Rock. Tree. Dirt. So worth it.

 

Beefed makes good stuff! my kickouts have saved me multiple occasions. As said here, when you think you wont need them ends up being when you need them the most...if your getting sliders, might as well get them. Does no bad, but lots of good.
