My Weekend Project

Over the weekend I have been working on a new emblem for the new front grille (which has yet to arrive). I started with an emblem from an old FJ and for those of you that have purchased them you know they come with white letters and a black background. Well, I wanted the letters to match the color of the truck so I took Dupli Color Bed Liner spray and sprayed the entire emblem to give it a rough texture. Then I taped it out and sprayed the letter with silver streak. No, its not perfect, but I was proud of my work given this is the 2nd thing I have ever painted. It is a good cheap mod if someone is looking for one!

 

Looks good! I would have done something similar to color-match my truck but its white to begin with so I lucked out!

 

Yeah, that would have been much easier.

 

What type of grill did you order? GrillCraft? Satoshi?

 

GrillCraft, I was on the list for a Satoshi but I ended up changing my mind and going the cheaper route.

Ah got yah. Grillcrafts are nice too. I helped my buddy install his last year with the same FJ emblem and it looks really good!

 

I might end up with a Satoshi but I needed to purchase a cap for work so I had to take some of the grille moey and put it towards the cap.

 

Will do, should be within the next week!

 

Ah I see. Yeah caps arent cheap. But at least you know if you ever wanted to do the Satosh that you have the GC to do it.
