285/75/16 on stock with 5100s...

wondering if this will work out. I just received my 5100s, and was planning on leveling the front off with them and the stock springs.

i was going to only do 265/75/16s, but figured i'd ask so that when/if i do front springs and rear lift (both small lift), i'd already have a bigger tire.

looking to just go with the BFG AT for now.

also i will add ... on stock TRD off road wheels.

 

If your just going to lift the front to level the stock back height, 285's will rub pretty good even with trimming. You will also need wheel spacers so the tires dont hit your UCA's.

 

thats what i figured. i'd probably have to grab some one springs for the front and an aal... then worry about driveline vibes...

 

Well you can set your Billies at 2.5" up front on stock springs and get a 1.5" rear AAL and you should be able to fit 285's along with the other things I listed. It will get pretty spendy though.

 

i have 285/75/16 goodyear duratracs on mine. i put the 5100's in the front at 2.5 and 1.5 aal in the rear. No spacers or anything else. theres slight rubbing but not too bad. I should put in spacers but you can get away with out if you don't mind rubbing a bit when fully turned.

Side note, Which notch on the 5100s will level me off... .85" or the next one up?

 

I'm not too sure to be honest. .85 might be a little too low after sag, but 1.75 might be too high. Best thing to do at this point is use the all powerful search tool. There have been countless threads started on these shocks.

 

1.75" is what most people go for level, but you should check if you have the TSB rear leaf Pack or the non TSB.

 

I am at .85 w/no AAL or anything on the back (SR5 shocks) and I still have a rake. 1.75 would be very close to level IMHO.

 

Iv'e got a stock '12 it has 3 leafs in the back.

figured i'd bump this...

I just bought wheels, Method Double standards.. 4.5" BS 0 offset. If i move the 5100s up to the top setting and grab an AAL for the rear, can i fit the 33s with zero issues? Like don't need UCAs yet, blah blah blah.. maybe just plastic trimming?

Until I ditch the 5100s for a mid travel kit... just not wanting to buy tires twice..

 

I wouldn't say zero issues, you will probably still rub but at least not real bad with those wheel specs.. Maybe at full lock & reverse. Go for it, you'll be happy.

You will need to trim the wheel wells because the will rub but they will fit. I have stock 265's on my truck with the 5100's all the way around and the add a leaf in the back due to the TSB. My next set of tires I will bump up to the 285's so you should be okay. Here is a side view of my truck with the 5100's on their highest setting with my 265's.

SoJersey, did you ever put 33's like you wanted to? Any rubbing? I'm finding myself in similar situation! 5100s at 2.5 front. Rear spring tsb and about to add 1" block to rear.
