Serpentine Belt Tensioner

    How do you all typically loosen tension on these? Should I hook a ratchet to the small bolt on the pulley that is off axis or do people typically hook a ratchet or something to the main axis for what provides the tension? I'm working on my wife's Isuzu and don't want to snap a bolt or anything

    Usually adjusts at the alternator. Loosen the pivot bolt first, then the bolt in the slotted hole. The alternator should rotate releasing the tension.
