Ok gotcha at least you're taking responsibility. That's good. Just do it right the first time ;)
Put up a request in the South East section and at at least see if anybody could do the suspension lift for you. It'll be worth it in the long run.

I have talked to the guy at Boss Van (they do stuff like side steps and camper tops and what not) but his tacoma is the "shop truck" or whatever and he said that he used to work at a jeep shop previously, installing lifts, and he installed the spacer lift on his, he said "I love mine and wouldnt change it, I really like the stiffer ride and there is really no point in paying $500 extra for a lift when its going to do the same thing." so i dont really know, what do you guys think?

There is no such thing as a "good lift for cheap"......................unless a really good friend gives you theirs and uses your stock stuff to go back stock for increased trade-in value on their truck. BTW, I have some top plate spacers for the front that I never used due to getting suspension lift instead that you can have for cheap...see pics in my gallery, not sure what pg...........

I get what youre saying, I considered the Nitto trail grapplers but would they be a better choice for on road and be worth the couple extra hundred? He installs all of the lifts and tires on the jeep dealer across the street and swears by the dick cepeck mud country and Mickey Thompson MTZ tires.....

Spacer lift = not serious offroading so..........no need for serious offroading tires that'll just be more expensive and wear quicker.

well yea he puts mud tires on jeeps that probably see mud. haha

you dont need mud tires for the street, man.

BFG AT's if you want great on/off road tires.

mud tires are crap on road, kill gas mileage, and are really noisey

There's 3 pages on what we think about spacer lifts... You're contradicting yourself, you claim you have safety sensitive parents but you want to install a lift that's prone to failure and tires that are horrible for the road. Show your parents the Camburg site illustrating the failures that have come from spacer lifts and see how they feel about the safety of the spacer lift. The installer will warranty the parts, meaning the spacer. They will not warranty the existing shocks or the damage that happens to the truck when the shock breaks and your truck nose dives. Do it right the first time, you really do get what you pay for. And your Jeep guy, tell him to test a coilover suspension set-up and he'll never go back to his spacer again.

Look OP, people here are telling you to wait. Patience young padawan! I have a brand new 2011 DC TRD OR that I'm itching like hell to lift, armor-up, and throw rims and tires on. Sadly, I cannot afford the exact parts I want at this time. So.... I buy what I can and it sits in the garage or save until it can be done RIGHT.

You argue that your parents want warranty and all of this safety. The majority of the posters on here are telling you that what you want is not safe and will cost you and your parents more money in the long haul. Just my $.02

GL with whatever you chose. Hope you learn some patience from all of this.

I'm just getting the mud tires for looks, I'm not getting them for off roaring capabilities, I don't want anything with huge luggs and a lot of road noise, ive spent about 7 hours going back and forth, and back and forth looking at different lifts and what would be a decent one and I keep coming up with the spacer lift or the billies and 885's and everything is about $700 without install.

Google Magnuson Moss Act. Legally, the addition of aftermarket parts can not void the warranty of an OEM part unless they can prove the aftermarket part caused the OEM part to fail. That being said, your shocks are considered a wear item and you'd be hard pressed to get them covered under warranty anyways unless they blew out 2 days after you bought the truck. It's like trying to get brake pads warrantied. The grey area would be the CV joints and boots that may prematurely wear out due to a lift. The dealership could blame them wearing out on the lift and legally, you could fight it and may even win but the cost you'll spend on fighting something like that, you might as well just pay for the initial repair.

Make up your mind... Do you want mud tires or something that doesn't have huge lugs and a lot of road noise?

Billies and 885's would be a great front lift.

The Trail Grappler M/T will howl on the highway. Damn near every M/T tire you can get will howl on the highway. Some are better than others but it's a trait of M/T tires. They are specifically made with an open tread pattern to throw mud. If you want one that's 'not that bad', the BF Goodrich KM2 is supposedly better and I think there's a Cooper tire that's relatively quiet as far as M/T's go.
