All pro U-Bolt flip kit concern.

I have add a leaf and need new U-Bolts, so I thought that instead of getting just the U-Bolts, why not get the U-Bolt flip kit from All-Pro since its only $10 more?

I have done some research and it seems that the U-Bolt flip kit doesnt work with stock bump stops. From what I have researched it seems that most people who have the U-Bolt flip kit run it without bump stops. Now this is a concern for me since I haul heavy loads in the bed of my Taco and had 1500lbs or more in the bed. The rear end was sitting on the bump stops...

Will I damage my truck by hauling loads without bump stops? I would guess yes, but would like some opinions from TW...

 

I would not run without bump stops. Just get the kit with the timbren bump stops.




Or for a cheaper route, get some bump stops from Wheeler's and make it work. Do a search cause others have done this. Just look in the vendor section under Wheeler's offroad.

 

The Timbrens are Hella expensive, I am on a budget so thats not an option... I wonder If I can make the stock bump stops work with the flip kit...HMMM

Wheelers bump stops have the same exact mounting points as stock bump stops, so they wouldn't work without modification either...

 

Just tack weld the stock bumps to the top plate for the flip kit. I did that on my old truck as well as quite a few others. Problem solved.

There ya go. Just as a note they just do fit on top in between the ubolts but it does all work out without any mods. Takes about 5 mins to do.

Best thing to do is to go down to O'Reilly Auto parts and pick up a set of the energy suspension cone style bumps they sell for $12. Drill the holes in your bump strike pads (on the frame) and bolt them upside down, facing your U-bolt flip plate. It's a fifteen minute install and gives you another 2'' of travel versus the Timbrens.

Just make sure they are long enough so you don't rip your fender off at full stuff. I don't have any cracked welds or metal yet....

I just cut my stock bumps to fit on top and drill holes to mount then (drill tap top plate) works great!

 

i run the timbrens i love them man much better than the stockers. they soft and progressive and cushion things nicely if you do ever hit on them.
