Rear camera anytime switch, 4x4 Illuminated Switch (from rcbs204) , rear view mirror lift bracket (from ImMrYo), 75 cent tailgate anti-theft. Technically not mods but give me a break I'm trying to fill space here... OEM Leather pkg, keyless unlock & ACC chime silence, BakFlip G2, Ultra Gauge EM, WeatherTech floor mats, OEM roof rack
Those wires would rip right off with it... And a new gate with a camera is gonna cost you even more.

I used the rubber off of one of these. VVV I just slid it around the hose clamp then installed the whole thing on the tailgate. Saves the paint.

Trunk monkey was a cute vidio, but I am not kinding.

But, as I have already posted before. I had a '02 Tundera that had no locking tail gate. Then I had a '03 & an '06 Tundra bouth of which did. My '06 X dose not have one & none of them since then do ether . Why ? A locking gate, like on my '03 & '06 would solve all of this .Big O

Did this today, $1.20 from home depot. I'll get something to line it soon to protect against rust, but being frugal and a bit paranoid, this was the perfect first mod.

    Thanks Chris!

    No stealum' tailgate mod
Just got a new '12 Tacoma. First thing I did was put the hose clamps on the tailgate. Being a little OCD I put a bunch of JB Weld on the clamps. Hope I don't ever have to take them off. Thx for the post.

Whoa! #20 clamp has just been added to my shopping list. Easy/cheap fix until I get a ninja to camp out in my truck. Thanks!

Use the cheap clamp surrounded by the stainless steel Gatekeeper that bolts on around it with a popnlock and do the washer mod on the cables. Tailgate will go nowhere......

Anyone know where to find the EZ clamps or similar in Canada? I can't find them at Walmart and Amazon wants $20 for shipping.

I did the same thing with my 2012 last week when I got the truck. After I saw this write-up I did this right away. I found the clamps at Lowes, $2.00

I did this quick temporary fix for my tailgate. Just grab your loose change that's sitting in your truck console and buy the two hose clamps. It's not full-proof, but it definately keeps the opportunist thief away from your tailgate. For an even more secure fix attach the clamps as instructed, but place the screw part between the tailgate and bed of the truck and tighten it from underneath the bed. You'll need a friend to hold the tailgate while you do this. It's narrow under that area, but do-able. Makes it even trickier for the thief take off the your tailgate. I originally did it as instructed above and had NO rub on the bed lining or the bed itself. Feeling ambitious? Spray paint the hose clamps to match your bed/truck color. Thanks for the tip.

Just added the McGard tailgate lock to my truck. Not designed to fit on a Taco, but with a little hacksaw work on the housing, fits fine. Took about 3/8" off the side with the socket and about 1/4" off the other side. Only $20 on Amazon. The custom socket needed to attach the clamp and all the plastic covering, make is worth the cost over a plain hose clamp to me.

I'm new to the Tacoma scene and noticed this while scanning through the site last night. Thank you Chris and everyone else for all the additional tips.

I added the hose clamp and washers to my tail gate this morning. I used a regular hose clamp wrapped in 3M Temflex rubber tape to protect the paint. For the washer mod I added some blue locktite to the bolt and also lightly greased the hook at the end of the cable on both sides to help it move a little better.
