Looks stock basically. People come up to me and ask me if I have a special edition with the black badges. It looks great.

Agreed. Pics look fantastic. I wonder how the large ones would look? I'm tempted to put a small on each door and then a large on the tailgate, right above the V6 SR5.

    lots with update soon!
you can get it an a paint supply store or somewhere like autozone. like he said its just a red backing that you peel off. i do auto body for a living n triming can be a little difficult at times thats why you can use small strips so that the tape isnt seen through the letters. i did mine but i used something much eazier then 3m tape. i used 3m plastic emblem glue n it drys clear. just dont use too much. you dont want it to gush out when you press it back on. use painters tape to hold it in place till it drys....just make sure you scuff them b4 you paint them so the paint has something to hold to and clean the with wax/grease remover(glass cleaner can work too) and avoid touching after cleaning do to oil in your fingers. and make sure u remove all of the old tape off the emblem b4 useing tape or glue. if you have a bench grinding wheel that also has a wire wheel the wire wheel makes it much eazier to remove the old tape/glue. that sure beats using a razor blade and your thumb!

Great write up. I'm definitely going to be doing this on my white tacoma. I think black on white will be great.

I noticed in the original post that it is not recommended to do this on the truck. Just curious why? If you were able to mask everything off really well, wouldn't that work? Perhaps tough to get good even coverage when painting...

Also curious about other options for removing the leftover tape if anyone has tried other alternatives.

Is it nessesary to paint the back also? And does the color make a big difference as in flat black or gloss?

I didn't. I got the gloss. I was worried I wasn't going to like it but it turned out great.

Thanks for the write up. This is going to be one of the first things I do to the truck. Painted the stock steelies flat black to see if I'd like it before I get new ones. Since I can't do all the expensive mods yet this is cheap one that will have a noticable difference. I'm going to go with the flat black to match the rims.

Thanks for a good write-up. I debadged my tailgate of the dealership emblem in the manner you described. Worked like a charm.
