Over the summer my left tie-rods went out. after doing some searching i found positive recommendations for Moog parts. http://www.moog-suspension-parts.com/

The inner was half price and the outer was the same price so i got both. I noticed the other day that the new moog outer, which is maybe 6 months old, is pretty rusty. Way rustier than the OEM one that is god knows how many years old. Im a little disappointed. Could I have got a lemon that was never properly treated for corrosion resistance or is this to be expected with non-OEM? Seems ridiculous since I don't even live in a snowy area. Although I do live a quarter mile from the beach

The nation pretty much is driving on Moog stuff.....industry standard parts.
Were the new Moog parts painted ?

Often a Moog part will be serviceable (w/zerk) where the OEM is not.

I put new Moog lower ball joints when I lifted the front of my truck. The Moog parts don't come painted. They are just coated with some sort of oil or liquid anti-rust treatment for shipping. Now that they have been on for several months, my lower ball joints have a light oranage rust coating on them...no big deal. I seriously doubt that it will have any affect on their functionality. Drive your truck till the Moog parts fall apart...they'll last much longer than OEM. If you're really worried about them, spray them down with something like Seafoam Deep Creep or PB Blaster.

    That's what I thought.
Seems like I remember painting Moog front end parts for my Jeep, prior to install.
    Not a big deal.

My lower balljoints are covered in surface rust also. They are only one year old. But I dont think it will affect their function in any way. You could always do what was mentioned above, sand the and spray them with cleaner and throw a few coats of paint on them. But they are probably better then the OEM suspension parts.
