Questions for those with a TRD supercharger

I am wondering if anywhere in the box of parts or on the box
it says made in the USA.

Dealing with a Canada customs issue and I have to have "proof"
it is made in America. TRD corporate say they have no documentation
they can provide but I should look at the material that comes with
the supercharger in the box. Also they would not even tell me who
manufactures it (even though Magnusson seems to be well known).

Why would it matter if it was made in the USA or not if its purchased from a dealer in the US/Canada?

 

To import car parts into canada you pay duty, unless it is made in the
USA due to NAFTA.

Superchargers are thousands of dollars cheaper if bought in the states.

 

WOW, that sucks. Highly doubtful its made in the USA. I will double check mine but I am pretty sure it dosent say it anywhere either.

 

It's made here in the US by Magnuson.

 

Buy one from Bob here in Portland Oregon and Ron Tonkin. Send me a PM and I can get you his number. He could probably then have it shipped to a dealer local to you for little or no cost, then you just go pick it up.

He's done this a bunch when I was living out of state, he'd score me a deal and have it drop shipped to a local deal and I picked it up for free.

It might work the same for Canada due to the NAFTA thing, not sure though.

Yes I know that, but it is all about documentation. Magnuson does not
provide any paperwork as TRD claims the supercharger as their in house
product.

That is a good option, but I investigated it and my local dealership says
they have to add handling charges. It has just become so ridiculous here in BC. Each dealership holds the line, no negotiations or compromises. Customers put up with it for some unknown reason. Many dealerships refuse to negotiate prices on new cars too. It was very surprising.

I guess I will just have to bite the bullet and just bring it across.
