for 12,000 you could get a 1st. Gen Extra cab Tacoma
    or
a 2nd. Gen Regular Cab with SOME miles on it.

I agree. They're good looking and built like tanks. Might be hard pressed to find one with low miles and 4x4 for 12K. Private party sale but those to me anyways are scary. At least with a used car dealer you have a little recourse if it's a total POS.

i just bought a used jeep 3 days ago, because the one i had was unfixable. the dealer stuck it to me again and gave me a jeep with a new set of problems and a loan i couldnt afford (20,000)

so my bank told them they "couldn't" approve my loan. and i got out of it.

i love america first, they are SO helpful!

i want a taco. preferably 2nd gen. and i need to be able to stuff four adults in it!

and in utah 4x4 is a nessecity!

but I'm not averse to other toyota's. it all depends on cost!

Ah, then I have to change my endorsement of the 1st gen extended cab. My 14 year old is five foot tall and has a hard time with her legs in the back.

i dont care how base the double cab is, as long as its in good shape.

i own a jeep with shot brakes, my expectations are pretty low!

A GEN2 4x4 that will fit 4 adults around 12k? I'm not sure that is doable ...used 05s 4WD arorund here are over $15k. I have seen nice GEN1 in that price range, but those are far & few between too. The used GEN1 DCs keep their value very well. Maybe a used 4 runner? toy4life just bought a nice one with 116k.

Sorry to hear about your jeeps tho. Car trouble stinks!
