Called the local Toyota dealer and got a price quote for a new blower motor: $145+.
    Amazon.com: $45 shipped.

I ordered the one from Amazon. I figured it couldn't be any worse than the original OEM motor.

only problem with the Amazon one is that it will last less time than the toyota one...mine started squeeking after a month...not as bad as the oem but it was still there...

You can get OEM online for a little more than a $100 plus a few bucks for shipping.

I got my tacoma about 7 weeks ago, my motor started squeaking about 2 weeks ago. I took my truck to the local toyota shop and they said their is a new blower motor that is "upgraded" and it wont squeak anymore so i had it installed and i dont hear it anymore.....well see if it is actually "new and improved"

funny mine an 06 started screaming at me this morning. if i roll down the window it seems to stop and the higher the speed the louder it bellows. at first i thought it was the wind whistling through an unclosed door, or the radio. how long before it implodes??

It is "new and improved" and it even comes with a nice thick sound insulating To quite the noise when it starts sqeaking like a canary stuck inside my dash again....unfortunately, the "new and improved" one started squeaking after only 4 months

when i went up there to get mine replaced they talked like this motor just came out a month ago but they may have just been saying something to try to make me happy. Im not exactly sure but i guess time will tell, if it starts squeaking again ill just get it replaced again haha

Seems like they squeak pretty quickly, I think mine started in less than a month after I bought my truck. Should be able to take most of them in under warranty, and I guess they have a new motor now that should be better.

I really think Toyota should issue a recall on it, honestly. Obviously the design sucks.

I'm on my second "new motor" third in all. My blower was squeaking when i bought the truck but didnt realized it for a while. I've had my 06 for a year and have had the blower motor replace 3 times. I purchased the extended warranty so the first time it cost me 50 bucks but the part has a 1 year warranty so its been free every other time. Its just annoying when it goes out. My dealer is starting to keep them in stock now. I just had it done for the third time two weeks ago and expect to take it back in the spring. Just bite the bullet if you dont have a warranty and pay the first time and just be sure to take it back before the year is up. I figure if everyone does this, at $145+ a pop plus labor plus cost of not doing money making repairs then they might think about making a motor that works like they have in all their other vehicles. The blower never squeaked in my first gen. Why did they change it?

I am at the dealership now getting a new blower motor and 25k service. This will be the third motor, but first new model blower motor. I'm hoping this will fix it.
