    it depends on what type of subs you get, different subs can handle different watt amps, i believe you want the RMS rating on the sub to match the RMS on your amp. i haven't messed with systems in a while, that seems to be what i remember.. anyone have any different advice?

    I'd agree that was pretty good advice :) and the only things I could add is he'll want to make sure it will fit where he wants it to fit as well as has the features needed ie crossovers/remote gain etc.
