My apologies. I did not have a wiring schematic in front of me. I work on Cadillac vehicles. And on a Cadillac EVERYTHING is a request. Push a button, BCM sees voltage is present on that circuit, and so it applies power or ground to that circuit. (up or down). Wasn't to sure about yodas.

No worries. I wasn't trying to be a wise ass, just trying to get some info out that I found.

My grandma's Cadillac cost her $1000 to fix the AC. Seems the computer refused to call for the AC compressor to engage.

Is there any way you could have gotten water or snow or something into the switches?

I work on appliances and it's common to have a pot boil over and soak the electrical switches on a stove. Then the burners try to start on there own. By the time we get to the house, it's usually fixed itself. They dry out in about a day.

I am inclined to believe the problem to be the up/down switch. Moisture shorting the switch is possible, but not likely. I think a wore out switch to be more probable.

A shorted wire would blow the fuse.

A fuse only limits current in case of a short. It would blow if there was a short.

The motor cannot turn on without voltage from the switch.
