Hey I am new to the truck world, I have always had lowered VW's. I have a 2004 tacoma TRD ext.cab. I am looking to go with 15x8 with 33/12.50R15's. I am wanting to know what would be the best way to lift the truck and how much to lift to fit the tires?

I was looking at spacers and blocks. I just dont want to buy a kit that is to small and the tires not fit. Any input would be wicked guys thanks!!

Bilstein 5100's, Toytec front adjustable coilover kit, Exporear leafs, Fox resi rears, Slotted & Drilled front rotors, 33x12.50 BFG ATs on Outlaw II 15 x 10s, Bushwacker cutout flares, K&N cold air intake with aluminum sheathing water baffles, ARB bumper with XD9000 winch with wireless remote, IPF 900XS lights, Flowmaster cat-back exhaust, Rhino bed liner, UWS gullwing toolbox with tools and recovery gear. 48" Hi-Lift Jack secured under toolbox.
There are a lot of variables here. But I'd like to note for 33x12.50s a better rim would be 15x10
I can't really tell you what to do, but to put 33x12.50s on my truck is still an ongoing process. They are big tires no doubt.
Before my ARB came I was running 5100s all around, with OME 882 coils in front and a Dakar leaf pack in back. I'd save up and go with better coils and leaf pack AAL (add a leaf) versus blocks and spacers. The backspacing I run is 4". I had to trim a lot off the lower portion of the stock bumper and hammer down the pinch welds in the front wheel wells to clear the front wheels when turned near 90% max. You'll need a longer brake line in back.
You may also need new UCAs for the front and also may eventually want to regear. I haven't yet, but its on my wish list.
My tires stuck out quite a bit, so I went with the Bushwhacker cutout fender flares.
I'd say 2 1/2" maybe with a ALOT of trimming or 2 3/4" to 3" may be better.
I'm no expert, just have my own experience....

Do it right the first time. You wont be happy with a spacer and block lift after awhile. Even though you will spend a little more its worth it. Just my two sense. For example this ome lift here will give you an awesome ride and 3in of lift which will be fine for the tires you want to get.

First of al 0" of lift or 3" of lift on the control arm suspension will not matter for tire fitment.

Don't get spacers or a block... we aren't chevy trucks.

everyone on here will steer you far, far away from spacers and blocks. They make the truck ride like crap and its harmful to your suspension components.

Bilstein 5100's/Eibach coils, and an AAL is the "budget good lift" known well on here. That will get you 3'' of lift and you can fit 33's.
