2012 Prerunner Locker Question?

I tow a snowmobile trailer 3 times a year, can you keep a locker locked on the highway, if a snowstorm was encountered while pulling the trailer. Does it automatically unlock? Thanks in advance.

I wouldn't.

The button locks and unlocks. That's it. There's nothing automatic about it.

 

Workman knows that it would be a bad idea to use the locker on ice on the freeway. You would be fishtailing all over the place, specially if your an auto and the tranny kicked down over hills.

Better to just add some weight to the bed, and possibly use chains. The locker does not automatically lock in and out, that would be kinda like LSD.

Workman thinks that the risk of exploding your rear diff is also pretty likely using your locker like that, especially on highway speeds with patches of dry pavement here and there.

 

Workman had made a valid point . An engaged locker on icy roads is asking for trouble and is not something that should be considered.
