I got 19mpg hiway on a hunting trip this past weekend. 2012 DC-OR 4x4 auto. Truck was not loaded that much, just coolers, hunting stuff and another passenger. I was doing 75 most of the time. I thought it should have gotten better, but oh well, its a truck.

    ^^^ THIS!

I 'lost' about 1 MPG in my fill up checks after getting 265/75-16 tires... It takes a while to get used to, but I know my speedometer is actually true now. From the factory, with 265/70-16 tires, around town mileage was 16-17. My speedometer would also say I was driving 68 when my GPS said I was at 65.

Now, the same driving gets me 15-16 MPG. The truck is still getting the same mileage, only now my speedometer/odometer isn't lying! 65 is 65!

The LOW FUEL light (not check engine light) comes on when you have used about 17 gallons (4 in the tank still)... and 16 mpg x 17 gallons = 272 miles.

My mileage is right around 17-18 mpg and I have a 06 with just over 100,000 miles. I just did a tune up and it didn't improve at all. These things are not efficient. I love this truck and am thankful I don't have to drive to work every day. If you are looking to buy a mid sized truck to save money, the Taco is not the one.

    Good thing it looks good.

Nope, that is good... specially for being new and loaded. If you can find gasoline without any ethynol in it, you will get better. Anytime I am in Mexico, loaded for camping, using Pemex gasoline (87 octane, no eco junk added), my mileage goes up... 18-20 range.

meh..just be glad you are not getting the average 200 miles for each tank that i get:cookiemonster:

im not complaining about my own mpg's.. that's just the consequences for having heavy 35" tires, re-gear, extra equipment/tools/supplies, etc etc etc, and trail armor that i normally carry. it's to be expected.

I noticed the same thing I'm not sure why but we have 2 brand new 2011 toyotas my Tacoma speedometer is now 100% accurate to the speed in the gps, my wife's 4runner the true speed is about 4mph slower than what the speedo says.

I wanted to revive this thread and admit I was full of shit. I am guessing my 09 gauge was different than my 11. I am using fuelly now and I am getting 20.1MPG on average.

Good to hear. There just didn't seem to be reasonable for the bad mileage. I've got a stock '06 DC 4x4 and driving like a granny, I'm getting up to 21.5.

Just because the speed is faster does not mean that more miles are being caluclated. The 2010 Tacoma I had showed 1 mph faster than the the gps but if I drove 100 miles on the gps the truck mile meter said 96 miles traveled.Thats an extra 14 miles on a 350 mile fill up so mpg was bettter than I was showing. To be accurate one would have to call it 364 miles if I went by GPS.I have not checked it yet on my 2012 Tacoma. My Prius shows the speed 1 mph faster and the miles driven are almost dead on.

I just filled up today and got 18.70 mpg out of my last tank. About 1 mpg better than last tank. Only thing im doing different is shifting earlier....5th gear on level ground at 35mph.

    Basicly....driving like an old man.
