i have a 2006 DC SB with a 6 speed manual transmission and i have been noticing a few different noises that happen when i shift in and out of gears.

the most noticeable sound i hear is when i am parked, in neutral, and then shift into first. it almost sounds like a loud clunk. it isn't only first gear either i have shifted through all gears (while parked) and the noise happens every time. i have driven several different cars/trucks with manual transmissions but never heard anything like this.

another sound that i hear (although it is not as frequent) is almost a loud humming/vibrating sound that (as far as i can tell) only happens when i am going down a hill (like a driveway), i am shifting out of gear into neutral to stop while hitting the brake, and then i hear it. this is the only time i hear this noise.

i hope i have described this well enough for someone to have a clue as to what is happening. i really don't wanna take it to the stealership and have it looked at because i can't afford that right now so any advice will be great.

Second noise sounds like ABS. Does the first sound come from the rear?

no it is right under the floorboard which is why i think it is clutch related. wouldn't a light kick on if it was ABS? or am i wrong?

Have you checked the fluid level in the tranny? How many miles on the truck? When's the last time you changed the fluid? Changing / checking the fluid in the manual is a very easy thing to do, so you can definitely do it yourself.

I am new to this forum and your post stuck out. I am have a familiar problem with my 07 TRD Sport that I purchased this past October. My noise is almost like a raddle or vibration coming from the Clutch/Transmission area. I have had it back to the dealership once already because they replaced the throw out bearing and put a new clutch in prior to my purchasing. They claimed it was fixed and the noise came back later that day when i got home. Going back again on Tuesday. Gunna keep going back till they get it right.
