I've driven pick ups for 20 years and this is my first small(er) one and man does it step out easily when it's wet, can't imagine how bad it'll be in the snow, what's peoples expirence? Would prefer not to have to be in 4wheel at the slightest bit of slick, maybe it's the stock tires, anyone run winters?

    Couple of things:

    - added weight in back, any one have tips on how to add some weight without loosing use of bed under a tonneau cover for hockey equipment etc.

    - traction control, I've played around with the buttons a bit, but can't seem to get it to stop my drifitng....which I like to do a little of in the snow, all you off roaders, what's the combo of turning this off

Merry ho ho to all and thanks

Tacoma is stock and staying that way, Pickup is TBA as of now.
I dont have any trouble in 4x4, just go slow and take it easy. Couple weeks ago I was driving back to college, and 40 miles of the drive was like a skating rink, only did about 45-50mph in 4x4 and kept my foot out of the gas, zero problems!

    Get better tires
    Get a bed mat
    Weight over the rear axle
Push and hold the VSC ( car with squiggly lines ) button for 5 seconds while stopped " disables " the VSC system

    Or use the search button.

Steps out easily on you? My O/R won't break out unless I crank a hard 90 degree turn and floor it.

I attributed it to the tires, but mine steps out pretty easily. Did a nice 540 in the middle of a main road last winter.

I keep some sand bags over the rear axle.

Looking forward to gettin new tires ASAP, I really hope that is the issue here.

Slow in...fast out:D And yeah get some real tires. I don't use weight in the bed but I do like to keep the gas tank full for extra weight.

I'm actually kind of stressed out about the upcoming snow. I have the stock Coopers and they are junk. Don't have money right now for Duratracs. That is the tire I'm favoring right now. Gonna be interesting for sure.

OP: It's definitely your tires. With proper winter tires, I have not had any problems with traction here in Edmonton last winter. So far this winter, I'm still running my a/t tires, and I'm having almost no issues.

It is definitely the tires. My stock rugged fails were the worst. I had horrible traction even in light rain. Snow was even worse.

Getting a new pair of tires (lots of good options to choose from) will make a huge difference.

My stock tires on my Sport were terrible. The Duratracs I have now are awesome. I probably use 4wd half as much as I used to now for snow. And that's without having weight in the bed.

I only have 2wd and I've had no issues in snow. I put 150 lbs. of sand in the bed. This year I'm running AT's so she should plow through the snow like a champ.
