General Grabbers

Hi you all, my pickup will need tires soon, and I was thinking about the General Grabbers (red letters), I wanted to run 285/75/16 (I've read those are backordered everywhere) or 310/75/16 on stock TRD off-road rims, also I will have this weekend installed the glassworks fenders/bedsides I believe those are 4" or 4.5" flare, and also I've ordered 4 spidertrax hub-centric spacers 1.25" I think, would I be able to fit those tires with the stock height of my truck?

I dont know if that will be possible I am ruuning the same exact tires with 16" rims and with my 3" kit the wheel well is stuffed pretty good. You will run into many problems with the inner fender and the frame mount as well.

Even with the glass there's just no way you could fit the 315s on there. Those are 35's. People rub a little with those even on 6" lifts.

 

As well as the 285s

 

So I should wait until I have my Tacoma lifted and go with a smaller tire for now?
I'm going to have TC long travel in front and leaf-over-spring on the back (I don't know what brand yet), but this will be until mid 2012 I think, will this solve any issues with the 285's?

 

do not go 35s on a 3 inch unless your very handy with a grinder, welder, and a plasma cutter.

 

But 285's are like 33 right?
Also remember I will have installed spidertrax spacers 1.25" and I thought the 265, 285, 310 was all about the tire width not the height, correct me if I'm wrong please

 

the 265 vs 285 is the width, in MM. Most common 285's are also 33" in diamater, and most 265's are 32's or 31's, so the terms are often used interchangeably.

 

so a tire 265/75/16 have the same height than a 285/75/16 and a 310/75/16 just a bit wider, my question is if a standard Tacoma can fit a 265/75/16 why can't I use a 285/75/16 if I have 1.25" spacers, what's the other restrictions?

20mm extra wider would be just 0.7874015748031497 inches, per calculations those 285 should fit perfectly, the 310 is a different story that would be 1.7716535433070868 inches extras in width than the 265's

The second number is the sidewall height expressed as percentage of the the width. So a 315/75 (no such thing as a 310) is way taller than a 265/75, in addition to being much wider.

 

Ohhh got it now, I though it was width (265,285,315,etc) height (65,70,75,etc) and rim size, my bad, thank you for the clarification

They are the height of the sidewall. So that number, times 2, plus the diameter of the wheel, will be the tire diameter.

The tires you have listed have diameters just under 32", 33", and 35", respectively.

 

Those numbers you have are the sidewall height in mm. You need to multiply this by two and add the wheel diameter to get the overall tire diameter. Or just use the calculator which does it all for you.

Yes, but sizes can vary by a few mm depending on the manufacturer. You can check their websites for the actual measurements of any of their tires.

 

so width issue is covered by the spacers easily (0.787" vs 1.25"), the difference between the 265 and 285 in height is 30mm or 1.18" plus or minus, that wouldn't be cleared with the fiberglass fenders? also I'll have to remove the inner fender right? so that's another problem I won't have anymore, sorry if I ask too much
