    One township we do a bit of work in has a really out there building inspector. He likes to come up with his own code on the spot so when we do any work there we bring out the code book and tell him to show us where his code is.

    He didn't like that we used galvanized strip nails to nail our bottom plates on (pressure treated to normal). He was all concerned about the nails falling out so I had to go back and hand nail three 31/2" galvanized into each stud

    The house I'm building right now has 65 holdowns anchored with 7/8" redi rod epoxied 12" deep into the foundation , all the exterior walls are portal shear walls and there is about 25 / 52" Simpson straps on the outside of the building

    IDK about it going back to R-2000 , but the minimum insulation values went up in BC in 2011
