I owned a dcsb. Sold the truck when I came overseas. Once I'm back to the states I'm going for the dclb. I found out that I used the bed more often than I expected and the longer bed would have helped out tremendously.

I'm assuming that question was for me...

Depends. I get back to the states in July. I may hold out to see what the 2013 brings. I'm not expecting much change from the 12s, but who knows with all this talk on/off about a 3rd gen.

SB, if I was to get a LB it would be because I want to haul things, in which case i would get a tundra or chevy 2500

See the reason I own a truck is so that I don't have to rely on inconveniencing others to get things done.

Long bed is more practical and looks better too. For me this is a no brainer.

This ^ is a prime reason. Especially with the new truck mattress and tent.

I've also become really used to the extra capacity because we've been making a lot of Home Depot trips during our remodel.

I off-road my DCLB all the time. Haven't high centered yet.... It does rule out certain lines that I would like to take but can't because of my limo. Pretty much due to approach and exit angles. Tight switchbacks require a couple of extra manuevers because of the increased turn radius. I use it to haul a lot otherwise I would've gotten the SB.

I wish they offered the six speed with the long bed, that's what I'd have. But, a manual transmission is a must for me, so SB it is.. BTW, dirtbike fits fine with bed extender.

Short Bed. The Long Bed is like driving a full size truck without the extra width. If I needed a truck with a larger bed I'd get the Dakota with a 6 1/2 foot bed.

This has been an interesting conversation and thanks to the many who replied. It brought out some things I never even thought about when looking at the options.

I'm happy with my choice of the SB. I've been scoping out the dealer inventories since my October purchase and it's rare to find a DCLB in this area for some reason. If you do find one, it's likely to be one at the very high end of the options scale and in a color that would not be my choice.

Maybe when the next generation comes out I'll look at my options again, but until then, I'm lovin' my Tacoma.

Will a 4 wheeler fit in a short bed with the tail gate down?? Im still saving for my tacoma and a 4wheeler is next on my list. So this may be a decision breaker for me....

I like my long bed. I just put on a tonneau today!

I would stick with the long bed, it has come in handy already.
